The Rhode Island Public Health Association, in collaboration with the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) and community partners, is pleased to release a new series of Breast Cancer Screening Data Briefs that provide critical insights into screening rates, health disparities, and community experiences across Rhode Island’s Health Equity Zone (HEZ) communities.
The briefs underscore persistent racial inequities in breast cancer outcomes and, some of the briefs, include perspectives from community focus groups that highlight both positive screening experiences and ongoing challenges linked to the social determinants of health. These findings point to opportunities for strengthening access through culturally responsive outreach, flexible screening options, and supportive services.
By translating data into action, this work aims to advance health equity, reduce disparities, and promote early detection for all Rhode Islanders.
