Who We Are

  • A non-profit tax-exempt 501©3 professional organization concerned with the advancement of public health throughout the state.
  • A convening organization of health care professionals and interested parties in a unique, multidisciplinary environment of professional exchange, study and action.
  • Established in 1995, the Rhode Island Public Health Association (RIPHA) exists to promote and protect the health of Rhode Island.
  • The current focus for all RIPHA programs and advocacy efforts is “Promoting Access to Health Care,” including access to health services and the affordability of social, economical, and physical capital to achieve healthy individuals, healthy families and health communities.
  • As “your voice for public health” our mission is to influence public health policy and educate the public, lawmakers, and the media through conferences and forums, and we meet with and testify before legislative and other government bodies.
  • RIPHA is a nonpartisan membership based organization which identifies current public health issues on which we can have a significant impact to improve the public’s health and achieve equity in health status by educating and mobilizing our members and the general public about these issues.
  • Membership - RIPHA currently has 129 members consisting of a variety of health care professionals and practitioners and students.
Join the Effort!  We need your help to keep RIPHA moving forward.  We need: event helpers, contributing writers for the web and newsletter, communicators, advocates, or become a RIPHA member resource on health-related topics/issues, and more.  Contact RIPHA Communications Chair, Alan Krinsky, PHD, MPH at (401) 383-0395, or email adkrinsky@netzero.net for more details.
